Osmaniye groundnut is an oil plant from the legume family. Osmaniye groundnut is one of the most important products of agriculture and has become the symbol of Osmaniye. 27.4% of Turkey's groundnut production is carried out in our city, our province is Turkey 2 percent in the production of groundnuts. 90% of Turkey's trade volume is made out of groundnut Osmaniye market.

In over 300 large and small businesses in Osmaniye, groundnuts are processed and marketed. Some of these enterprises are branded and produce packaged products, others process and market semi-finished groundnuts as shelled or unshelled raw materials. About 4,000 families earn their living through people working in groundnut plants, which are particularly important for women's employment in the province.
It is used as raw material in groundnuts, nuts and food industry and in oil production. Bark and plant can be used in animal feed production.

Greenhouse Farming Practices There are 26 plastic greenhouses, 7 high tunnels and 1.006 low tunnels in Osmaniye. It is evaluated that there is an investment potential in this area for people and companies, planning to invest in the field of agriculture.

According to the data from Osmaniye Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, there was 874.188.750 TL's worth of plant and 328.761.689 TL's worth of animal value in 2013 in Osmaniye which has, 1% of the number of cattle in Turkey.

Olive and Olive Oil

Osmaniye is an area where olive-planted areas develop rapidly in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. In 2018, 5.500 tons of table olives and 59.500 tons of olive oil were produced in our province. The 2,58% of the olive and 5,50% of olive oil also produced in Turkey are produced in our province. The leading districts in the production of olives in Osmaniye are Bahçe, Düziçi, Hasanbeyli, Kadirli and and central district in terms of olive planted area. The amount of olive oil production increased by 717% compared to year 2008. It is seen that Osmaniye is generally focused on olive oil varieties. Osmaniye ranks 7th among the provinces in the production of oil olives in Turkey. (TÜİK, 2018)

According to Turkish Statistical Institute data of 2018, Osmaniye is the province with the highest production efficiency per tree yielding fruit in olive oil production in our country.

According to the records of Osmaniye Directorate Of Provincial Agriculture And Forestry, there are 12 olive oil and 6 fermented and brine plants throughout the province.

Iron and Steel Sector

In recent years, industrial investments in various sectors have been improved in Osmaniye thanks to the expansion of the industry in the surrounding cities and the government incentives for Osmaniye. The iron and steel sector has gained a significant share of these investments and soon became the flagship of Osmaniye's industrial development.

In Osmaniye, 51 of 358 companies registered in the industrial registry, ie 14.25%, are active in the main metal industry (Osmaniye Industry and Technology Provincial Directorate Briefing, 2018)

Iron and steel sector occupies an important place in the economic structure of Osmaniye, according to the industry committee Turkish Steel Producers Association data, 10 of 32 plants are located in Osmaniye-İskenderun region. In 2005, only 4 companies was in operation approximately with a 4.2 million tons of liquid steel capacity. Today, with the latest investments, the total steel production capacity of the plants in İskenderun-Osmaniye region reached 16.7 million tons and it constitutes 32.4% of Turkey's steel production capacity. Osmanabad and Iskenderun region., Is one of the iron and steel cluster centers in Turkey. according to the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, in 2017 7 out of 10 companies operating in the iron and steel industry at the region, is among Turkey's top 500 industrial corporations. Therefore, the iron and steel sector has taken its place among the leading sectors in Osmaniye in terms of the rising tendency in the region and national economy.

Energy

Osmaniye is an important province in terms of underground and aboveground resources. There are no problems in electricity generation and agricultural irrigation due to to the rivers and dam lakes.

Two of the four dams in Osmaniye province generate electrical energy. Aslantaş and Berke Dams are located on the Ceyhan River, Kalecik Dam, Kalecik River and Mehmetli Dam, Kesiksuyu River. The capacity of Aslantaş and Berke Dam is 648 MW and annual electricity generation is 2,277 GWh. 73.4% of this production is provided by Berke Dam. Our dams irrigate a total area of 134 thousand ha. 88% of this irrigation is provided by Aslantaş Dam.

Osmaniye has a very advantageous position in terms of renewable energy sources due to the length of sunshine duration and wind energy potential. Wind power plants in Osmaniye have been actively operating since 2009.

In our country, the Mediterranean Region ranks second after Southeastern Anatolia in terms of solar energy potential. It is seen that the solar radiation value of Osmaniye province is between 1650 - 1900 kWs / m2 / year in general. Turkey's total annual average sunshine time of 2,640 hours / year, while the daily average of 7.2 hours. Osmaniye total annual average sunshine time of 2861 hours / year and the average daily duration of sunshine in Osmaniye, Turkey is above the average of 7.8 hours

With the investment in wind power, Turkey has reached installed capacity of over 7000 MW. Osmaniye has 265,3MW power, which is 3.8% of Turkey’s production. 33% of the province's 718 MW potential has been invested.

Osmaniye generates %85 of Licensed Electricity Generation in Turkey.

Culture And Tourism

The region where Osmaniye is located in the east of Çukurova has been a settlement since the earliest times in history and has been influenced by many civilizations and also is located in a geography where there are significant historical and cultural monuments.

The ruins of Domuztepe and mounds in Osmaniye belong to Neolithic, Chalcolithic and Bronze periods. Hittite, Assyrian, Persian, Greek, Roman and Byzantine states and some tribes lived their lives from the first ages. Then the tribes of the Umayyad and Abbasids lived in this land, with the Turkish conquest of Anatolia from the 1080s, the Turkish tribes came.

Culture and nature tourism potential, the wealth of flora, to the cradle of the ancient civilization with a history and a culture of regional cuisine with an important position in Turkey.

Osmaniye is located in Cukurova, on the eastern bank of the Ceyhan River. Also Osmaniye is a busy area due to Ceyhan River, Hamis, Karaçay, Kesiksuyu and wetlands due to the Sabun stream, as well as the intersection of the roads connecting Çukurova.

Amanos Mountains and Taurus Mountains have many endemic plant diversity with both flora and fauna. Almost all of the Mediterranean plants grow in Osmaniye, where the Mediterranean climate is experienced. Forests and shrubs covering approximately 42% of the province's land attract attention with its rich flora. Some plants (Krokos, Cukurova Orchid, Cukurova Violet) that are not found anywhere in the world grow only in this region. The suitability of natural flora provides an environment suitable for cultivation of medicinal aromatic plants by cultivation

The 2-station Düldül Mountain cableway system being built in Düziçi district is 5450 meters long. Height difference between upper and lower stations is 1,548,50 meters. Below the Düldül Mountain, Düziçi Plain, Berke Dam, Aslantaş Dam, beech forests and the presence of different forests in the Sabunçayı Valley in the southern part reveal many shades of green. The observation of settlements such as Andırın, Kadirli and Osmaniye from the Düldül summit very clearly adds value to the summit.
